Mama Highlight: Lindsay Stark

Lindsay Stark

How long have you been a part of F4M & what got you started?

3 years, since my daughter Penelope was about 4 months old. My friend Caitlyn said, "You MUST try Stroller Strides. You WILL love it." and that was pretty convincing. I had also seen the classes in the park by my then apartment and thought it would be a great way to get exercise, introduce myself to other moms and introduce Penelope to new playmates.

Names & ages of your children? Share one fun thing about each!

Penelope, 3 years. She is a gentle soul who loves pink, pizza and dinosaurs. Milo, 1 year. We call him Little Bruiser since he's the only one who has visited the ER and shows no signs of slowing down....EVER. If he slows down long enough to look at him, you'll see that his eyes are the color of the ocean!

Who is your spouse? How long have you been together?

Daniel Stark: super dad, photographer, runner, pizza maker and cocktail extraordinaire. 10 years married and 16 years together

Before joining our village and before having children, what kept you busy?

Hahaha oh the good old days! Daniel and I traveled a lot, to Greece, Australia, Spain, the Caribbean... And we lived in an apartment in NW PDX where we considered ourselves resident experts of every restaurant and bar in town.

What are 3 words a good friend would use to describe you?

Sensitive, funny and thoughtful.

Why are you passionate about FIT4MOM?

Fit4Mom has become the new best friend I didn't know I needed. The village of mothers that embody Fit4Mom Cedar Mill is awe inspiring. I have never met a more supportive, non judgmental and encouraging group of women. Myself and my kids have made sweet new friends and become healthier and happier in the process. Megan and all the instructors create an energy that just lifts you up, makes you feel stronger, and inspires you to be a better you. Early on, I bought one of the Fit4Mom tanks that says "Strength in Motherhood" and that statement is perfect for describing this community. There is some magic in the air when you're with your fellow moms and instructors. I can't fully put it into words. You have to be there to experience it and once you do, you won't turn back. I probably don't go to class as often as I should, nor do I express this as often as I should, but I LOVE FIT4MOM.

Tell us how Motherhood changed you?

I think it may be too early for me to say how motherhood has changed me. I'm still changing and learning every day. But I can say it's made me slow down every agenda I thought I had in life and focus on what really matters. Lately I've been reflecting on the idea that motherhood isn't changing me, it's bringing me closer to the heart of who I truly am. And that is still an evolving process. Ask me again later! :)

Why should a new mom join FIT4MOM Cedar Mill:

A new mom should join Fit4Mom for community, for health, for sisterhood.
